A temporary closure notice needs a current service status and a reliable next step. Choose a confirmed reopening date only when it is known. If plans are uncertain, tell guests where and when you will post another update. The examples below separate full closure from a closed dining room with pickup still running.

Planned closure with a confirmed return
TEMPORARILY CLOSED
[Restaurant] will be closed from [start date] through [end date] for [confirmed reason].
We will welcome you back on [reopening date] at [time]. For questions about an existing booking, contact [contact method].
CLOSED TODAY — [DATE]
[Restaurant] is temporarily unable to open. Our reopening time is not yet confirmed.
We will post our next update at [update location] by [date and time]. For an existing reservation or order, please contact [contact method].
PICKUP SERVICE CONTINUES
Our dining room at [Restaurant] is temporarily closed from [start date] through [end date]. Pickup is available from [hours].
Order through [ordering method] and collect at [pickup location]. We will update dine-in arrangements at [update location].
Confirm whether the entire restaurant, only dine-in, or a specific service is unavailable.
Only name a reason you have verified and are comfortable publishing; a short factual notice is enough.
When reopening is uncertain, give an update time rather than a reopening promise.
Review existing reservations and prepaid orders separately; a public notice does not resolve them.
When you reopen, replace the closure notice wherever it appears and verify your listed hours.
What if you do not know when you will reopen?
Say that the reopening time is not confirmed and choose a next-update time the team can meet. 'We will share an update by Tuesday at noon' is different from 'We will reopen Tuesday at noon.' Do not promise refunds or rescheduled bookings in a general notice unless those arrangements are approved. Give affected guests a monitored contact method. For a short planned break, include the exact start and end dates; for a partial closure, lead with the service that remains available.
